Gentlemen of Rio en Medio Q.9 : Point of view

I think if the story is write in Don Anselmo point of view, he'll write what he think about the kids and the Americans group, he would tell us how he felt about the tree. The story will tell how he thinks about the prize, and the feeling of the narrator may changed, too. I'll be interested if I can read both perspective.

Literary focus : Q.6

In my opinion, the title "Stop the sun" is from the father's point of view, he wanted to stop the sun from coming up because he didn't want to die, he survive out of 54 men on the battle, if the sun goes up, he would be one of those 54 unlucky men, because maybe his enemies would found him and kill him. My idea is, in his mind, if he say "Stop the sun", meaning he don't want to die. One more thing, I think usually, lights are very positive, only dark are negative, but in this story, it's different, I think it has to do something about the author, my opinion is, maybe he don't like lights, or he prefer dark than lights, etc. so he don't want lights to be the good subject in this story.

Damage of Games

          It just six o’clock in the morning at the AIS, the sounds of guns shooting and bombs exploding are mixed together creating very weird, loud sound that people can hear it standing the lobby. Those sounds are from a group of games addict students, and one of them is me, Peter. The principle of the school is trying to solve this problem because he worried that we couldn’t absorb enough knowledge if we just keep playing like this every single day.

            I first discover this “Counter Strike” game on the first week of school. I found this shooting type game is very interesting, so I showed it to my friends, they liked it, too. So starting that day, everyday we went to school, we always always play games, and some of my friend even skipped luches just because of that harmful game. We were all very smart, we usually got good grade on their test, but when we start addicted to games, their  went down very much  like use up a thousand bucks in 5 minutes. The principle can’t accept our grade, so we were sent to his office to talk to him. During the talking, instead of making very harsh rules, he used words to convinced us, some of his words made us very afraid of playing games like “Some day you cannot see if you keep playing games” and  “ You won’t have a good future, you’ll be uneducated street boys with no job, no where to live”. After school, I went home and thought about what the principle just said at school, and guess what, I didn’t even touch the computer, I started to realize that games are very harmful, people play games just to relax or release stress, not for sitting in front of the computer for a whole day just to farm levels, but not everygames are bad, educated games like math games are very good, too. And I asked my friend, I realize the same things as I did. Day passed; we started to learn very well because now, games can’t stop us from being a good student anymore. The next quarter’s report card have been give out, our grade increase very much, we’re very happy.

            Now, everyone in the school no longer hear the sounds of guns shooting or bombs exploding, instead of that, many students and kids play good, educated games.

My little brother

My brother has dark skin. He dark hair is as curly as the bottom part of a black screw (like Lucky but not that curly). His eyes are like 2 black and white marbles. Look at him from a further distance, he look like a cute fat pig because his belly is nearly as big as mine.  His hand are small, as big as a cell phone like blackberry, Iphone. He is a very sensitive boy. His voice is like a girl screaming when she was locked inside an empty room.

Đà Nẵng trip

            I was nine years old, in 4^th  grade. I had a week of for Christmas, so my family decided to have a vacation to Da Nang, I was very excited, I always excited whenever I have a vacation. We went to a five star hotel “The Nam Hai” and I think it’s not in Da Nang, just near it, it’s in Hoi An The prize is very expensive, cause it’s a five star hotel, it’s very big.

I think the prize for each room is about $450. But it worths it, the service is very awesome, each villar has a swimming pool, a dining room, and a kitchen, we can drinks all the coke, beer, whatever drink they have in the fridge for free. In the room, there’s a massage bath, each room even have an own ipod. I love the service here. Everything there is good. So I spend like 1 to 2 hours staying at my room and the villar. I even called a transport car, a car that helped people to get fro mthe lobby to their room because the hotel is very big, I had a trip around the hotel, I discovered that there’s also club, spa, free computer wifi rooms, billards, bar, etc. But 1 thing that I don’t really like about this hotel is when it’s evening, the way that people walk or drive to the lobby it’s very very dark, and I don’t like dark.

In the afternoon, after I had a flight from HCM city to here, and running around the hotel, I rest for about 30 minutes, and then I swim at the villar, as I say, each villar has it’s own swimming pool, that’s the best part. I swim with my brother, and my cousin. It was very fun I swim very very much, that explains why I have dark skin. While swimming, I have a very wild joke to my brother, I push him to the water, about 3 seconds, that make him can breath, after he rise up, he cried alot, and screamed at me. So I got punished for not going out of my room for 15 minutes, but still, that’s pretty fun, after the punishment, I continue swimming.

My parents and my uncle told me and my cousin to go to the beach, at first, I and my brothers don’t wanna go, so everyone leave both of us here, we felt alone, so we chase after them. While running to the beach, the wind here is very strong, so it blew the sand to everyone’s leg that probably felt very itchy.

When we’re down at the beach, I turn my head down and see, I suddenly know that the water here is very clean; it’s very clean that I can see my leg while standing. We start to go away from the seashore, and we go to a far enough place to swim, but I think that the water depth here is not so deep, and  I think if the water is too deep, I can swim back easily, like what I’ve done in the swimming pool, I wanna show off, so I start to go a little further, and further, my uncle saw me, and told me “Hey, don’t go too far, or else you would get a cramp and sink the water.” Well, my mouth said yes, but my brain doesn’t do what my mouth say, so I just keep going further, and further, I went very far, that when I stood by my tiptoes, the water still over my nose, suddenly, I got a cramp, I fell down to the water, about 5 seconds, and then stood up, It was very hurts, I can swim back, it got even hurter, I scream “Heeeeeelp”, then I fell down, luckk for me, my uncle save me.

I faint for 10 minutes, then I woke up and saw me lieing at the sand with bunch of people surrounds me. I then felt very bad, and I apologized to my uncle.He warned me not to go far, but I didn’t listen to him, so this is the consequences I got. I then realize that “Don’t underestimate something eventhough it looks normal in the outside, and always listen to your parents and everyone in your family.”

The phrase “to pull a Charlie Gordon” in the story “Flowers for Algernon” means to have a prank. in Charlie Gordon. In the story, when Charlie was dancing to Ellen, then everyone was laughing at Charlie because of Joe and Frank making fun of Charlie. So Joe and Frank “pull a Charlie Gordon”.  So the short way to explain it is just to tease , make fun of somebody
